“I love my friends. I hope they remember me as someone who was independent and strong, and who stood up for others”, says Maria, “I am so excited to finally be in my senior year, and to do all the senior things, like when we sing the Alma Mater to the other classes on the field during half-time. It’s pretty amazing to be making these memories with my best friends and knowing that is what I’m going to remember most from high school.” Maria (who looks a little bit like actress Hailee Steinfeld) joined my team in hopes of meeting her friends, and she certainly achieved her goal, adding, “It’s been really incredible to meet a whole group of people who are so open and caring, and who have all different interests and backgrounds and hobbies, But we share this one common thing with Sandi Shipley Photography, and we get to be best friends for a couple hours.”
Maria says her personal hero is Amy Schumer, who she looks up to as a successful women. “I’m reading her books right now”, explains this senior, “She’s totally surprised me, because she’s absolutely hilarious, but there are also hidden sides of her. I can really relate to her.” After graduation, this adorable gal plans to attend the University of Arizona, to study Criminal Justice. She hopes to apply her degree in the forensic science field someday. For her sunny, chic senior session, we found lots of outdoor locations locally that were just right. I also loved that we were able to include the VW Bug she brought along; it has been in her family since it was purchased new in 1977, and it represents lots of memories for her dad. It was the perfect addition to our retro-inspired shoot. I also have to mention her awesome pair of blue platform heels! They were one of the most fun pairs of shoes I’ve seen on a senior, and they were a blast to photograph.
