Do people still use the word “Dapper”? If that doesn’t age me too much, I’m going to go ahead and call this a dapper senior session! Jake is a senior from Sunnyslope High School who will graduate this year, and who I absolutely loved meeting. He has a wonderful, outgoing personality and a killer smile. He really wanted to incorporate the ring his grandfather left him, and also was hoping to bring his dog, Docket to his shoot…so we did both!

Everything about this shoot evoked such an urban, architectural sense, which is exactly what he was wanting. What are the key items to getting an editorial feel? Well, first, choosing a photographer that has the right “look” you are wanting. Many of my shoots have an editorial feel, with crisp editing and lighting, but it’s important that you look through a portfolio before choosing your artist. Secondly, your wardrobe is a key component. Getting a sharp look means making sure your outfits are ironed, and properly fitted to your body. Wrinkly, misshapen clothes would really take away from the styling you see below, and a great suit is always a stylish choice! Jake looks fantastic, and his personality shines through in the more dressy AND the casual shots.
