Well hello, February! How did you get here so soon? The month has arrived where so many of us start thinking about Valentine’s Day. The pressure is on to have an IG worthy outfit and date planned! The comparison game goes hard this month and I know how it can make anyone feel less than. I’m here to tell you, you don’t need someone else to validate you for who you are. You don’t need a Pinterest worthy date or the “perfect” Valentine to be worthy of love. You are strong, beautiful and more than enough, just as you are!
February is the month known for being filled with pink hearts, red roses, and signs that scream “be mine” hung in the windows of every establishment that you walk past. Valentine’s Day, although known as the one day out of the year that has been specifically set aside for couples and lovers of every age and background to #humblebrag and celebrate their love, is also a day for young single women to celebrate themselves, rejoicing in their own self-worth as an individual. Though this day may be seen as a couples only holiday, it has been transformed and re-imagined into a day of love and adoration for all of us, allowing young girls and women to indulge in the fact that they are strong, independent beings who are not in need of a Valentine counterpart to be happy and joyful this Valentine’s Day.
Every February 14th, Instagram, Facebook, and any other platform that is utilized for sharing our everyday lives with others is bombarded with couples who have decided to show their BAE the attention and adoration through perfectly curated images and long, sappy captions that seem way too forced to be sincere. There’s no need for an Instagram or Pinterest worthy love interest this Valentine’s Day to make yourself feel worthy of attention and admiration. It’s time to stop comparing yourself to the curated images that you see splattered on social media and take control of your V-day this year by showing yourself the love and grace that you deserve!
If you are feeling a little lonely, plan a shopping day with your besties. If you are in need of some TLC, book yourself a day of pampering and get that facial and massage that you have been dreaming of. If your favorite flowers are roses or tulips, don’t wait around for someone else to buy them for you! Go down to your local florist and pick out a bouquet of flowers that make you feel as beautiful and loved as they look.
Instead of waiting for someone else to make you feel good this Valentine’s Day, it’s time to make yourself feel good. This Valentine’s Day, it’s time to throw on some pink and show yourself how incredible and worthy you really are! Jeans and a tee are a great idea, especially if they make you feel good about yourself. Feel like a dazzling Sequin number just for fun, Go for it! Do the things that make you feel amazing, because you ARE. This Valentine’s Day let the focus be on loving all the part of your self that make you who you are. Wear Pink on Wednesdays and any other day it makes you feel good. Find a new friend to sit with. Buy yourself the flowers. Wear the red lipstick. Celebrate your own unique BEAUTY and own it. And if you want to come into the studio for your own Playdate, where we play dress up and get all glammed up just for the fun of it… just let me know! I am always down for new adventures in the studio.
