5 Questions You Shouldn’t Be Afraid to Ask Your Senior Photographer
If you haven’t already booked your session yet and you’re wondering what to ask a photographer so you can know if they’re right for you, we can help! Senior Portraits are a major milestone in your life, and you deserve to have stunning senior portraits to remember it by. But with so many photographers out there, it can be tough to know who to choose. That’s why I’m here to share 5 questions you shouldn’t be afraid to ask your photographer before you book your session.
1. What is your client timeline and when will I get my pictures back?
This is an important question to ask because it will give you an idea of how long you’ll have to wait to see your photos. Some photographers have a quick turnaround time, while others may take a few weeks or even months. You also want to communicate if you have a deadline that you need to meet, like for your yearbook page.
2. How many images will be included in my gallery?
Every photographer is different. You want to make sure you’re getting a wide range of images to select from, especially if you are bringing multiple outfits. Some photographers include a set number of images in their packages, while others let you choose how many you want. It’s also a good idea to ask about the quality of the images that will be included in your gallery.
3. What kind of editing can I expect for my pictures?
This is a question that will help you determine if the photographer’s style is a good fit for you. Do you like more natural looking images with minimal editing, or do you like a more fashion forward look with with color grading and special effects? It’s important to find someone who can give you the look you’re going for and make sure the end results are going to reflect your style and personality.
4. How are you different from other local photographers?
Not all photographers are the same in what services they offer beyond just taking pictures. Some put more emphasis on what kind of experience you will have and include everything from pre-session styling, client closets and professional hair and make up services. Others are more bare bones and focus only on the delivery of images.
5. What are your cancellation policies?
This is an important question to ask in case something comes up and you have to reschedule your session. It’s also a good idea to ask about the photographer’s policies for weather cancellations.
Bonus Question: What do typical clients spend and Do you offer payment plans?
Don’t be afraid to ask questions about total cost and payment plans. Senior Portraits are a big investment, you want to make sure you understand what is and isn’t included in session/collection fees.
I hope these questions help you find the perfect photographer for your senior portraits. Remember, it’s important to feel comfortable with the photographer and their style. This is a special time in your life, and you want to make sure you have photos that you’ll cherish forever.
Here are some additional tips for choosing a senior photographer:
Look at their portfolio and make sure their style is a good fit for you.
Ask to see a full gallery of images, not just a handful of favorites.
Read their reviews and get recommendations from friends or family.
Interview several photographers before you make a decision. It’s important to connect with their personality and feel comfortable working with whomever you choose.
