I immediately caught Jessica’s amazing vision when she reached out to me about planning a session for her 40th Birthday! We started the process of planning and dreaming what her celebration could look like for her and her closest friends. She was planning on flying into Phoenix for a girls weekend and wanted to schedule her shoot during the time they would be in Arizona. I found the perfect styled house to rent, hired a team of make up artists to work with and started putting all the pieces of the puzzle together.
I started the shoot by taking some group shots of the ladies posing together. Some classic music was playing on the record player, we had the women laughing and dancing. Their laughter was contagious! Then, I split them up into smaller groups and took some individual portraits. I also had a lot of fun getting creative with the props, like the vintage phones and record players. The women were all so much fun to work with, and they really got into the spirit of the shoot. They were laughing and joking the whole time, and it really showed in the photos. I’m so happy with how the shoot turned out, and I know the birthday girl was thrilled with her photos!
If you’re looking for a fun and unique way to celebrate a special occasion, I highly recommend planning a vintage-inspired photoshoot. It’s a great way to get creative and capture some unforgettable memories. To see more of the portraits we did for the Birthday Girl, head over to my blog post of Jessica’s 40th Birthday images.
Thinking of doing something fun like this to celebrate a birthday? Here are a few tips for planning a vintage-inspired photoshoot:
Choose a theme. What decade do you want to channel? The 1920s? The 1950s? The 1960s? Once you know your theme, you can start to gather props and costumes.
Work with a photographer who you feel understands your vision and can help put together all the pieces. PLanning is key! This will ensure that you get the most authentic and stylish photos.
Don’t be afraid to have fun! Vintage photoshoots are all about letting loose and having a good time. So relax, enjoy yourself, and let your personality shine through in the photos.
